A lot of this music was very repetitive, but I do not blame people for enjoying it because it uses catchy beats and melodies. The more complex songs that are out right now are often not as trendy simply because they are more complex and don't captivate the ears of as many people. Though "awesome" and "better" are slightly objective, more complex music definitely exists and captures the hearts of many. I could list artists that this applies to, but I think it best to leave that up to individual listeners seeing as it is largely opinion based.

I do not think that there is much more to offer from other new music. Most of the new music today is rap which to me has little to no progresions. I like a lot of the viral songs since they are catchy and easily repetetive to the mind and the ear.

I do not think that this is the only thing that new music has to offer. The popularity of these songs can be chalked up to the versatility that simple melodies and chord progressions have on apps such as TikTok. Even on TikTok, we see smaller artists sharing their music with complex lyrics and chord progressions, but it is often not as marketable as the songs that are pushed by celebrities' social media managers and TikTok's algorithm.

Music has way more to offer, we as a society have just moved into a more basic, contemporary era... I think it will be hard to move out of this feel.

I think now music is more about how catchy it is and how it gets stuck in your head as opposed to how good the music actually is

I think this is not ALL what new music has to offer but I do think we will come to a point where it will be difficult to create something new out of nothing that wasn't inspired by anything else. I think a lot of the reptitiveness comes from new ideas being unable to fit into other things so it becomes repetitive.

I would never pick these songs for the top ten list. I just don't think that the overall population's opinions really shows what good music is. It''s interesting though how many songs are going viral from tik tok.

I think the appeal of pop music today is its simplicity. It's something that can be enjoyed without much actual brain processing, and in a world that is increasingly accelerating due to technology, it makes sense that our music is simpler, making it easier to catch on to and gain traction.

I think that things go viral because of it's simplicity and easiness to understand. If there were too much depth and intricit chord progressions, then people wouldn't understand it.

I dont personally like a lot of the new music that is being put out. I think its very catchy and is made using simple chords which is the reason people like it. But I personally like songs that are a bit more complex and have interesting chords and melodies.

The songs that have gained overwhelming popularity recently are all slightly related to previously released hits. This is because the general population tends to favor what is more familiar to them--in this case, standard chords and rhythms.
