Landscape Journal: Trees

There are multiple subjects in this photo, the main one being the row of bright trees that line the dirt road leading to the mountains. In order to add depth, the photographer included various planes such as mid-plane, foreground, feature plane and cloud plane. With mid-plane and feature plane, both relay size cues that lead the eye to depict a center of interest and in this photo, the first tree represented is larger and in focus while in the background, the trees gradually become smaller and less in focus, drawing ones eye to the end of the road. The trees frame the photo and the photographer chose an opportune time of day to shoot so the shadows of the trees could extend across the road, adding even more depth to the landscape. This photo caught my attention becuase it was visually appealing, and I liked how the photographer lighted both the foreground of the piece and sky in order to create one harmonious photograph.
