Abstract Journal: Artichoke

I really like this abstract photograph because at first glance it looks like a forest landscape at night with tall trees on both sides leading into darker wood. However, the photo is actually the outer covering of an artichoke with all of its different layers and ridges. Through zooming up very close and making it black and white, the photographer added depth to the image. The goal of abstraction is to take the ordinary and transform it into something different, and this photograher did just that.
