MIDI - stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. MIDI /'mide/ is a widely used standard for interconnecting electronic musical instruments and computers. It describes a protocol, digital interface and connectors. 

ASDR - (Attack, Decay, Sustain, and Release time) or Attack Decay Sustain Release envelope. It may be applied to the overall amplitude control, filter frequency, etc. The attack and decay of a sound has a great effect on an acoustic musical instrument's sonic character.
